| KUN enters into the next chapter of his career, selling out venues and celebrating with his loyal fans on his current tour.

Chinese pop star KUN (Cai Xukun, 蔡徐坤) kicked off his North American tour An Evening With KUN at the Novo Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. After last year's successful showcase titled One Night Only sold out the Fonda Theatre, KUN brought his world tour to larger venues, nearly doubling in capacity. Even with his still growing audience, he delivered a performance that felt intimate and personal.

KUNS’s latest self-titled album is a reflection of his personal growth and journey through the last several years. With tracks like “Washed Away” and “Deadman” symbolizing the shedding of his past, KUN presents a new and honest version of himself through the album. KUN is laced with the artist’s signature velvety sound fused with jazz and soul, the album's themes touching on a more authentic look into his story. KUN marks the artist’s first full-length English album and with often cited influence from Western artists such as Frank Sinatra, Amy Winehouse and Queen, KUN delivers genre-defying sounds that blend old school and modern.

Introducing the style of old jazz to a live audience, KUN is surrounded by varying musicians on stage - his guitarist, bassist and drummer on his right, while his pianist, saxophonist, trumpeter and trombonist stood to his left. KUN delivered moodiness, romance, and a calm (yet powerful) energy to his fans as he stood on stage, surrounded by rose petals and dressed in an all-red velvet suit and black leather gloves.
IKUN (the artist’s fandom) from across the world filled the venue, many who lined up outside in the early morning for a chance to be first at the barricade. It’s common in fanbases of Asian artists to rent LED trucks for fans to showcase their support (other times in protest) for their favorite artists. Though more popular overseas, the heavily trafficked Olympic Boulevard was home to trucks displaying fans' love for KUN.

An Evening with KUN was filled with new releases as well as fan favorites such as “Ride or Die” and “Jasmine.” KUN used his song “What A Day” to dance passionately around the stage and interact with the crowd. 2020 track “情人 (Lover)” still holds a special place for IKUN, KUN even joking he knew they were all anticipating the number. Those who weren’t already snapping constant videos and photos were quick to capture the moment.
The night came to an end with “Colder” and “Deadman,” the crowd singing along to each word as KUN effortlessly belted out the lyrics, his smooth, deep voice echoing through the venue. The crowd waved their hands high in the air and KUN knelt near the edge of the stage to say one last goodbye to IKUN. An Evening With KUN only emphasized KUN’s longstanding connection with his fans, their support unwavering at every new chapter.
