Rising indie singer-songwriter hannah bahng has announced the upcoming release of her new single “Sweet Satin Boy,” arriving July 11 via her independent label, Bahng Entertainment. Written, composed and produced by hannah and her longtime collaborator Andrew Luce (iann dior, Role Model, Lil Nas X), the emotionally raw track explores the painful pull of a relationship you know you should leave but can’t seem to let go of.

The accompanying music video, also out July 11, was directed and produced by hannah herself, continuing her hands-on creative approach that’s made her one of Gen Z’s most exciting multi-hyphenates.

First introduced during her performance at Rolling Stone’s Future of Music SXSW showcase and throughout The Abysmal Tour in Europe this past spring, “Sweet Satin Boy” has already begun to gain traction online. A preview posted to hannah’s social media over the weekend quickly amassed over 1.3 million views across Instagram and TikTok, fueling anticipation for the upcoming release.

The single follows hannah’s poignant track “what never lived” (January 2025), a haunting reflection on mourning a love that never truly existed, and her debut record, The Abysmal EP (May 2024). The emotionally raw seven-track project explored themes of self-discovery and the end of her teen years, weaving together elements of alternative, R&B and progressive pop. With nearly 40 million streams on Spotify alone, The Abysmal EP solidified hannah’s reputation as a boundary-pushing artist with a genre-defying sound that resonates deeply with fans and critics alike.
