Sarah Kinsley is a self-made American artist who has taken the world with a quiet storm. After going viral in 2021 for her song “The King,” she has brought the world into her realm. She creates empires in her songs, giving listeners an escape from reality. Kinsley’s music is a gorgeous mix between alt and cinematic pop. It has both a modern sound, but also can transport the listener to worlds unknown. But in the world of Los Angeles during The Fleeting Tour, Kinsley performed a sold out show in the Fonda Theatre.

The night opened with a mellow performance by Girlpuppy, who entered the stage with a soft presence. Although she wore a bold striped outfit, Girlpuppy’s sound was somber and honeyed. Her sound swept over the audience like a fog, entrancing the people with her voice. Instead of bringing high energy to the crowd like a usual opening act, Girlpuppy succeeded in bringing the anticipation down a few levels. She exited the stage, thankful for her fans, and left the audience wanting more.

Girlpuppy may have lulled the crowd, but once Kinsley entered the stage, the energy immediately lifted to new heights. The mass of people surged forward, giving Kinsley the opening to start the night with “The Truth of Pursuit.” The song is from her most recent EP, titled Fleeting, and evoked an insatiable yearning from both Kinsley and the audience. Kinsley left everything on the stage, using every inch of space to free her energy.

Even though the Fonda Theatre was packed with people, Kinsley managed to reach the roof with her ethereal sound. Her voice, both soothing and celestial in melody, could fuel an army. It’s hard to describe Kinsley’s sound, but one thing that is certain is that the audience would have heard it in their dreams that night. Part of her otherworldly sound is due to the contact mic she uses live on stage. This mic is specific to Kinsley, as she uses it to transform her voice into a synth-like sound. When live, the contact mic transports the listener to another plane of existence.

The whole concert could be summarized by the song “Fleeting.” Each part of that song could be a chapter in the setlist. It was exciting, emotional, and significant. “The King” and “Karma” brought the crowd to their feet, singing and dancing along. “The Giver” and “Lonely Touch” felt intimate and special, as if there were only a few people in the room. “Reverie” was a special song during which audience members held up their phone flashlights and blue paper hearts. Kinsley was deeply moved by this fan project and she was almost brought to tears.

Kinsley’s stage presence can only be described by the word “free” – she was completely uninhibited. It felt as if the stage could not contain her joy and passion. It was as if the worries of the world were blocked for two glorious hours and the audience lived in a utopia of beautiful things. When the night was over, it was as if the room was coated in moonlight.

Do not miss out on hearing Kinsley live on The Fleeting Tour. It is an out-of-body experience full of passion and intense truth. Buy your tickets now at https://www.sarahkinsleymusic.com/tour/
